Susan Sarandon Bio

It was 1968. Democratic Convention and there was a casting demand for a film that had many characters for youngsters who disrupted it. Joe (1970) was auditioned in New York by two recent Catholic University graduates. Chris Sarandon, who had trained to become an actor, was passed by the casting committee. His wife Susan was offered the role as Susan Compton. She plays the daughter of Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick). In the film Dad Bill kills Susan's drug dealer partner and then makes friends with Joe (Peter Boyle)who is an obnoxious worker on an assembly line , and who is a collector of guns.Five years later, Sarandon made the film where fans of cult classics have come to know her as Janet, who gets entangled with transvestite Dr. Frank n Furter in The The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). Sarandon stood up for Annie in Bull Durham (1988) more than 15 years after her debut. She traveled on her own from Rome, Italy to Los Angeles. "It was a great script ... and it shattered many myths and changed the American definition of success" said Sarandon. "I spent some time there with Kevin Costner, sex some males in the studio and then got back on the plane. Her relationship with Bull Durham (1988)) acting partner, Tim Robbins, had produced two sons by 1992 and placed Sarandon in the awkward position of having to leave her home only to accept roles that challenged her. It was the result four Academy Award nominations in 1990s, and best actress for Dead Man Walking (1995). Louis Malle's Atlantic City (1980), was her first Academy Award nomination.
