Abi Clarke
In the past,
i.e. In the early 2020s, comedians might have had the opportunity to play for
years in the UK before being invited to the TV panel and selling out arena
tours. It's not easy right now. Comedy is a form of art that has been able
continue to perform in front of a live audience. But, we're not going to be
seeing arena tours anytime in the near future. One Bristol comedian has found
an enormous global audience during lockdown through social media. Abi Clarke
didn't set out to become a global internet star. Abi Clarke, a 24 year old who
lives in Henbury with her parents, began making her first video online to
"build an audience of like-minded people who would appreciate my stand-up
comic act." "I was performing a lot in Devon for men older than 50
who weren't so keen on my Love Island Sims and Twilight references, so I
decided to search online for others who were young and would appreciate my
stand-up comedy." Abi, who lives in Henbury, with her parents, has
continued to post her videos on Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. Her
inspiration comes from a variety of sources, including conversations with
strangers, the chatroom, and also writing down everything she thinks on her
smartphone.
