Moss (born February 13th 1977) is an ex- American football player. He was an
American footballer who played for 14 seasons within the National Football
League (NFL), including with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders as well
as the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans. Together with Jerry Rice, he
is generally regarded as the most outstanding wide receiver ever. Moss holds
the NFL single-year touchdown record (23 in 2007), and the first NFL single
season touchdown mark (17 in 1998). He is second on the NFL all time regular
season touchdown receptions list with 156. Moss was well-known for his ability
to secure a the contested catch, and "mossed" is today a football
word. Following his time in football Moss began his career as a studio analyst
for ESPN for their Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night Countdown.
Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He was a student at DuPont High School.
It was one of two schools which eventually merged to form Riverside High
School. There was a great player in football, basketball, baseball tracks, and
many other sports. Randy was also a member of the school's debate team. Moss
was a DuPont Panthers' football player who led them to two consecutive state
championshipsin 1992 and 1993. The position he excelled at was wide receiver.
However, he also played free safety as well as punted kickoffs. He also was the
team's punter and kicker. He was awarded the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West
Virginia's Football Player of the Year. Parade magazine named him to their
All-American high-school football team in 1995 and in 2009 his name was named
among the top 50 football players from high schools ever.
